Development Bank of Nigeria
The Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) is a financial institution established by the Federal Government of Nigeria to provide sustainable financing through wholesale lending to Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria.
The DBN aims to address the financing challenges facing MSMEs by providing them with long-term financing at affordable interest rates. It collaborates with commercial banks, microfinance banks, and other financial institutions to reach a wider segment of the MSME market.
The bank operates as a wholesale development finance institution, meaning it does not directly lend to MSMEs but provides funding to financial institutions, which in turn lend to MSMEs.
The establishment of the Development Bank of Nigeria reflects efforts by the Nigerian government to stimulate economic growth, reduce poverty, and promote entrepreneurship and innovation in the country.
